Harlem is a small city in eastern Georgia's Columbia County, about 15 miles northwest of Augusta via Highway 221. Most visitors take I-20 to Exit 175, then head north on Highway 221. The town sits in rolling Piedmont hills and serves as a quiet residential community for Augusta commuters. Norfolk Southern freight trains still pass directly through downtown several times each day.
