Harahan is a small riverside city just west of New Orleans, easily reached via Interstate 10 or Jefferson Highway. Most visitors use it as a convenient stop between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, while locals commute daily to downtown New Orleans in about 15 minutes. The city operates its own independent water treatment plant, unusual for the metro area.
