Hanna is a small Wyoming town on Highway 72 between Laramie and Rawlins, sitting at 6,800 feet in high desert country. Most visitors arrive via Highway 72 from Interstate 80 near Sinclair, about 20 miles south. The town serves as a waypoint for travelers heading north to the Medicine Bow National Forest or continuing to mountain recreation areas. The historic WPA-era recreation center from the 1930s remains the community hub, featuring original stonework and serving everything from basketball games to town meetings.
