Hampton is a small Mississippi River town in western Illinois, about 15 miles from the Quad Cities. Take I-280 to Route 84, which runs right through town along the river. The area's rolling prairie and river views make for pleasant driving, especially during spring and fall. Hampton hosts an annual Watermelon Festival each August that's been running since 1962.
