Hammond is a small farming town in western Wisconsin, about 30 miles from Minneapolis via US Highway 12 and State Highway 65. The area sees typical Midwest weather with cold winters and warm summers. Most visitors arrive from the Twin Cities using Interstate 94 to New Richmond, then Highway 65 north. The town served as a refueling stop for transcontinental airmail pilots in the 1920s.
