Gunnison lies in Utah's Sanpete Valley, about two hours south of Salt Lake City via I-15 to I-70 east, then SR-89 south. The agricultural town sits at 4,900 feet elevation between mountain ranges, creating a high desert climate perfect for farming and ranching. Most long-distance visitors arrive via I-70, while locals use SR-89 for valley connections and SR-28 for western desert access. The town still operates the Starlite Drive-In, one of Utah's last remaining drive-in theaters since 1953.
