Gulfport is a small Gulf Coast city about 10 miles south of St. Petersburg on Florida's Pinellas Peninsula. Take I-275 to Exit 17 (54th Avenue South), then head west to reach downtown. US Highway 19 runs north-south along the coast as an alternate route. The city sits between Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, popular with both Tampa Bay area locals and coastal visitors. The historic Gulfport Casino Ballroom on Beach Boulevard still hosts Tuesday night dances, a tradition dating to 1932.
