Groom is a small Texas Panhandle town of 549 people on Interstate 40, 40 miles east of Amarillo. The main routes are I-40 for cross-country travel and Highway 207 for north-south connections. Originally a railroad and Route 66 stop, it's now known for the giant 190-foot steel cross visible for miles along the interstate.
