Grimesland is a small Pitt County town of 650 people, about 15 miles southeast of Greenville via NC Highway 33. Most visitors arrive on US 264 from Greenville or use it as a stop on routes to the Outer Banks. The town sits along the Tar River in North Carolina's flat coastal plain, experiencing typical eastern Carolina weather with hot summers and mild winters. The original 1886 post office building still stands on Main Street.
