Grimes is a small Alabama town in Dale County, about 15 miles northwest of Dothan via State Route 134. Long-distance visitors typically drive south from Montgomery on US Highway 231, then west on SR 134. The nearest airport is Dothan Regional, about 20 miles away. This rural Wiregrass region community of 582 residents was named after early settlers who ran a turpentine operation here in the 1800s.
