Greenback is a small Tennessee city of about 1,400 people located 25 miles southwest of Knoxville in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Highway 95 is the main route in, connecting to I-40 via Highway 321 near Lenoir City. Most visitors drive from Knoxville in about 30 minutes, while locals use Highway 444 for connections to Friendsville and rural Loudon County. The town got its name from Civil War-era paper money during Reconstruction.
