Grayling is a small northern Michigan city of 1,700 people that serves as a gateway to outdoor recreation in the surrounding state and national forests. Located on I-75 at Exit 254, it's a natural stopping point between Detroit and the Upper Peninsula, with US-127 beginning its northward journey here and M-72 connecting west to Traverse City. Camp Grayling, one of the nation's largest National Guard training facilities, covers 147,000 acres just south of town.
