Gratz is a tiny Kentucky River valley community of 80 people in Owen County's rolling farmland. Reach it via US 127 and State Route 22, about 30 miles from Frankfort and 60 from Louisville, with I-71 the nearest interstate 20 miles east. The town developed around Eagle Creek, which once powered local mills.
