Grantsville is a small Utah city of about 14,000 people located 40 miles west of Salt Lake City in the Tooele Valley. Reach it via State Route 138 south from I-80 (Exit 99) or north from SR-36. The town sits on flat desert terrain at 4,300 feet elevation between mountain ranges. The historic Donner-Reed Pioneer Museum downtown occupies an 1861 schoolhouse that once served wagon train pioneers.
