Grantsville is a mountain town of about 1,000 people in western Maryland's Garrett County, sitting along the historic National Road (US Route 40). It's about 20 miles west of Cumberland via US 40, with I-68 running parallel to the south. The area gets genuine mountain winters with snow and cooler summers than the rest of Maryland. The town still has original mile markers from America's first federally funded highway.
