Granite is a tiny mountain town in eastern Oregon's Grant County, reached via winding Highway 220 from Baker City about 45 miles southeast. The route climbs through pine forests in the Elkhorn Mountains, requiring winter driving caution. Most visitors come for outdoor recreation or mining history exploration. With around 100 residents, Granite holds the distinction of being one of Oregon's smallest incorporated cities.
