Grangeville, the Idaho County seat, sits at 3,400 feet in a forested valley along US Highway 95. The main route connects Lewiston (65 miles north) with McCall (85 miles south), while State Route 13 heads east into backcountry. Idaho County Airport serves general aviation just outside town. The city hosts Border Days each July, featuring one of the Northwest's oldest continuous rodeos since 1909.
