Gowrie is a farming town of about 930 people in central Iowa, 20 miles northwest of Fort Dodge. Highway 169 runs north-south through town while Highway 17 crosses east-west, connecting to Interstate 35 near Dayton. The town's 1901 opera house still hosts community events with its original pressed tin ceiling intact.
