Gordon is a small city of about 2,500 people in central Georgia, 20 miles southeast of Milledgeville. US Highway 441 runs right through town, connecting north to Milledgeville and south to Dublin, while State Route 18 provides east-west access. Most long-distance travelers use US 441 north to reach I-16 near Macon for connections to Atlanta or Savannah. The area sits on some of the world's richest kaolin clay deposits, making it part of Georgia's important paper and ceramics industry.
