Good Thunder is a small farming town in south-central Minnesota, about 15 miles southwest of Mankato via Highway 22. The area features rolling farmland with corn and soybean fields, experiencing typical Midwest weather with snowy winters and humid summers. Highway 22 runs right through town and connects west to Lake Crystal and US Highway 14 for regional travel. The town's water tower features a distinctive thunderbolt design honoring the Dakota leader Wakinyan Waste, whose name the community bears.
