Gladstone is a tiny farming town of 237 people in western Illinois, sitting on prairie bluffs near the Mississippi River. Drive there via US Highway 34 from Burlington, Iowa (25 minutes) or Galesburg, then take county roads north through corn and soybean country. The town's century-old wooden grain elevator still towers over Main Street, one of the last of its kind in the region.
