Girard is a small Pennsylvania borough about 18 miles southeast of Erie via US Route 6N. Most visitors take I-90 to Exit 9, then Route 18 north for 8 miles. The town sits on rolling Lake Erie plain terrain with typical Great Lakes climate. Its claim to fame is the historic Dan Rice Circus Winter Quarters, where the 19th-century performer who inspired Uncle Sam based his circus operations from 1847 to 1875.
