Girard is a small Kansas town along US Highway 69, about 20 miles north of the Missouri border. The main routes are US 69 running north-south to Fort Scott and Pittsburg, and State Route 7 going east-west toward Columbus. Most visitors arrive via US 69 from either direction, while locals make short commutes to nearby Pittsburg. The 1922 Crawford County Courthouse with its distinctive clock tower dominates the town square.
