Girard is a small farming town of 1,743 people about 25 miles south of Springfield on Route 4. The historic courthouse square features a red brick building from 1870 with a working clock tower. Route 4 connects north to Springfield and south toward St. Louis, while Route 108 provides eastern access from the Sangamon River valley.
