Gilt Edge is a small Tennessee community of about 500 people located 30 miles northeast of Memphis in Tipton County. Highway 51 north from Memphis through Millington provides the main access route, with most traffic consisting of local commuters heading to Memphis for work. The town sits among rolling farmland and takes its name from a 19th-century gold mine that once sparked dreams of riches in these rural hills.
