Gilman is a small farming town in central Iowa, about 45 miles northeast of Des Moines via Interstate 35 and Highway 14. The main route runs through Marshalltown, which serves as the regional hub for shopping and services. Highway 14 cuts straight through town, connecting to the broader road network. The town sits amid typical Iowa prairie, with corn and soybean fields dominating the landscape. Gilman's 1913 Carnegie Library still operates today, making it one of Marshall County's few active Carnegie libraries.
