Gilbert is a small central Iowa town of about 1,400 people, located 30 miles north of Des Moines via I-35 (Exit 111). Highway 210 runs east-west through town, while Highway 69 connects north to Ames just 10 miles away. The historic Gilbert Depot downtown recalls the community's 19th-century railroad roots.
