Gibbon is a small farming town of 1,800 people in south-central Nebraska, just 8 miles east of Kearney on Highway 30. Most visitors arrive via I-80 Exit 285, then take the historic Lincoln Highway into town. The area sits in the flat Platte River valley with straight roads that make for easy driving, though winter snow can reduce visibility. Gibbon's towering concrete grain elevator has served as a landmark for railroad and highway travelers for generations.
