Gervais is a small farming town of about 2,600 people in Oregon's Willamette Valley, 25 miles south of Portland via I-5 Exit 271. Take OR-214 west two miles from the interstate to reach downtown. The area's flat farmland produces berries and nursery stock, benefiting from the valley's mild climate. The town's 1922 brick grade school with its bell tower remains a working landmark nearly 100 years later.
