Gerty is a tiny Hughes County community of 83 people in east-central Oklahoma, about 75 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Reach it via I-40 east to Henryetta, then south on Highway 75 through Weleetka and east on county roads. The area sits among rolling agricultural land dotted with oil wells, experiencing typical Great Plains weather with hot summers and mild winters. The community maintains one of Oklahoma's smallest post offices in a decades-old building that doubles as an informal local gathering spot.
