Georgetown sits 30 miles north of Austin on Interstate 35, serving as Williamson County's seat in the rapidly growing Austin metro area. I-35 provides the main connection south to Austin and north toward Dallas, while Highway 29 runs east-west through downtown toward the Hill Country. The city has achieved the distinction of being Texas's first municipality to run entirely on renewable energy since 2017.
