Garrett is a mountain town of 403 people in Somerset County, reached via US Route 219 north-south and local Route 2014. The area's elevation brings snowy winters and mild summers. Most long-distance travel routes through Somerset to reach Interstate 76 about 45 miles south. The town still operates one of Pennsylvania's few active one-room schoolhouses.
