Garfield is a small farming town in southeastern Washington's Palouse region, surrounded by rolling wheat fields. State Route 27 runs through downtown, connecting to US-195 about 10 miles east near Pullman. Most visitors arrive via Spokane (45 miles north) or from the Pullman-Moscow area. The 1901 county courthouse serves as the seat of Washington's least populous county.
