Galena is a small Kansas city near the Missouri and Oklahoma borders, connected by US Highway 166 and State Highway 26. Most visitors drive from Joplin, Missouri, about 20 minutes east, where the regional airport is located. The town of 2,750 sits on former mining land at 950 feet elevation, and you can still see old lead and zinc chat piles scattered across the prairie landscape.
