Gaithersburg is a Montgomery County suburb about 25 miles northwest of D.C., connected by I-270 and Route 355. The I-270 corridor links biotech companies between Washington and Frederick, while the Metro Red Line ends at Shady Grove station on the city's edge. The restored 1884 B&O Railroad Station downtown still has its original bell that chimes for special events.
