Fruitport is a small lakefront town in western Michigan, about 35 miles from Grand Rapids via I-96 and US-31. The community of 1,200 sits where Spring Lake meets Lake Michigan, creating a natural harbor. Most visitors arrive via US-31 from either Muskegon to the south or Grand Rapids to the east. The town still holds an annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony each spring for local fishing boats.
