Frontenac is a small Kansas town of 3,400 people along US-69, about 130 miles south of Kansas City. The former coal mining community sits in the rolling southeastern Kansas hills, connected to nearby Pittsburg by a four-mile drive south. Strip mines have been converted into fishing lakes that attract visitors from across Crawford County.
