Fries is a small mountain town of 330 people in southwestern Virginia, sitting along the New River about 15 miles from Galax via US-58 and State Route 94. Most visitors arrive from I-77 at Hillsville, then take US-58 west. The town operates Virginia's oldest continuously running textile mill, still producing fabric since 1902.
