Friendsville is a mountain town of about 400 people in western Maryland's Garrett County, near the Pennsylvania border. Access is via US Route 219, which connects south to I-68 and Oakland (15 miles) and north into Pennsylvania toward Somerset. The town sits at 2,400 feet elevation with a historic Quaker meetinghouse from 1788 still standing on Main Street.
