French Lick is a historic resort town in southern Indiana's hills, about an hour from Louisville via State Road 56 and I-64. The scenic route from Bloomington follows State Road 145 through forested countryside. Once famous for its healing mineral springs, the town now draws visitors to its restored grand hotels. The West Baden Springs Hotel's enormous domed atrium was called the "Eighth Wonder of the World" when it opened in 1902.
