Freer is a small South Texas town of about 2,250 people located in ranch country southwest of Corpus Christi. Reach it via Interstate 37 from San Antonio, then Highway 44 west, or from Corpus Christi via US 281 south to Alice. The town sits in mesquite and cactus country with hot summers. Freer hosts an annual Rattlesnake Roundup each spring.
