The main route connects through Great Bend for access to larger highways heading to Wichita or Salina. State Highway 17 runs north-south through town. With just 40 residents, Frederick centers around agriculture and grain storage, with its historic 1925 red brick schoolhouse still standing as the town's most recognizable landmark.
