Franks Field is a tiny community of 49 people tucked into Wisconsin's Chequamegon National Forest, about 25 miles southeast of Ashland via US Highway 2 and county roads. It's a quiet base for exploring the surrounding wilderness areas, with hiking trails, fishing spots, and winter recreation nearby. The community still has its original 1923 one-room schoolhouse that now serves as a local gathering place.
