Franklin is a tiny Missouri River community of 66 people in Howard County, about 20 miles northwest of Columbia via Highway 87. Most visitors arrive from I-70, exiting at Boonville and heading north through farm country. The town sits near the famous Katy Trail, Missouri's 240-mile rail-to-trail that follows the river and ranks among America's longest developed rail-trails.
