Franklin is a small Central Valley farming town of about 7,400 people, located 15 miles northwest of Merced on Highway 99. Visitors typically arrive via Highway 99 from either direction, or from the Bay Area using I-5 to Highway 152 west. The town sits amid almond orchards and dairy farms in classic San Joaquin Valley agricultural landscape. Franklin hosts an annual Cinco de Mayo festival that's become a regional draw for traditional music and dancing.
