Fountain Run is a small Kentucky town of 255 people in Monroe County, positioned along Route 63 about 12 miles south of Tompkinsville. The main access comes via Route 63, which connects north to the county seat and south toward Tennessee, with Interstate 65 about 30 miles west. The community sits in rolling farmland typical of south-central Kentucky's limestone country. The town gets its name from a historic natural spring and the small creek that flows from it.
