Fountain is a tiny Lake Michigan coastal town in Mason County with just over 200 residents. Drive US-31 north from Grand Rapids (90 miles) or south from Traverse City (60 miles), then take local roads through pine forests to reach the shoreline. The community sits where the Platte River meets the big lake, surrounded by dunes and offering great fishing and boating. Fountain features one of Michigan's few remaining covered bridges spanning the Platte River.
