Fort Meade is a small central Florida city of about 5,200 people, located 45 miles southeast of Tampa via I-4 and US Highway 98. The town sits on the Florida Ridge with rolling hills and former phosphate mining areas. US 98 and State Road 17 are the main routes through town, connecting to Lakeland, Bartow, and Wauchula.
