Fort Calhoun is a small Missouri River town about 20 miles north of Omaha, reached via US Highway 30 west to Blair, then Highway 75 north. Most visitors drive up from the Omaha metro area, while locals use County Road P30 as a quieter alternative route. The town of 1,100 people is best known for sitting next to Nebraska's only nuclear power plant, whose cooling tower serves as a distinctive river landmark.
