Forkland is a small Greene County town of 660 people about 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa. Highway 17 is the main route in, connecting north to Eutaw and south toward Mississippi, while Highway 114 comes in from the east. The town sits along the Tombigbee River in cotton and pine country. It's named for the historic fork where two old roads once split toward different destinations.
